Project aim is to enhance, within three years, the competences of Civil Society in Italy, Germany, Poland and Malta on the role of sustainable agricultural practices and of local communities (smallholder farmers) all over the world in protecting and preserving natural resources for future generations, while minimizing the impact of Climate Change and contributing to the objectives 1 and 7 of the Millennium Development Goals -MDGs (UN 2000-05; UE 2005-07; FAO 2007; WB 2002).

 

Overal objectives

1) to o contribute to the dissemination of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) practices among the European general public, targeting in particular the youth (UNESCO-DESD 2004-2015);

2) to contribute to disseminating the fight against hunger (MdG no. 1) and the environmental objectives (MdG no.7) highlighting the linkage and relationship between both goals (FAO 2009; UN 2000; EU 2008).

 

Specific objective

1) to enhance the competences of Civil Society in Italy, Germany, Poland and Malta on the role of sustainable agricultural practices and local communities (smallholder farmers) all over the world in protecting and preserving natural resources for future generations, while minimizing the impact of Climate Change.

 

Results

1) good Practices on the role of sustainable agriculture and local communities (smallholder farmers) in protecting and preserving all over the world natural resources for future  generations while minimizing the impact of Climate Change, are exchanged in the Rural Districts of Social Economy.

2) the competences of European NGOs and farmer organisations about the linkage between Agriculture and Climate Change are enhanced.
